This is my new pet, i’ve had him for about 2 weeks or so. You don’t have to ask, the fox tail is fake!

[Rant] However you wouldn’t believe how much stick I get from work, apparently I’m not aloud to wear it because i’m a vegetarian. Funny, no one says anything about the excessive amounts of fake leather I wear

Behold, dear friends: Another example of a ‘fake’ tail that isn’t actually fake. Again, I don’t blame the buyer. She was probably told by the company she bought it from that it was faux. This misrepresentation on the company’s part is illegal according to the Truth in Fur Labeling Act, and should be reported.

However, it is important to know the difference between real and fake fur to begin with, because you, as the consumer, also play a part in the continuation of the industry.

Thus, here’s the guide: http://naturepunk.tumblr.com/post/14057018775/real-vs-fake

Read it, know it, love it.

The sad part is, many of the people who think fur is disgusting are the people that end up accidentally buying it, because they’ve never held it in their hands and don’t know how to identify it. It was really easy for me to find the real coyote fur amidst the “faux” fur coats at the second hand store.

I cant believe all the notes and stuff people have been leaving on this! Just to clarify this is FAKE! If I was to buy it mistakenly thinking it was fake and turned out to be real I would get rid of it, however I think its pretty rude and insulting for people to start saying “ohh she probably didn’t realise it was real blah blah blah” its FAKE, it looks fake, feels fake, was cheap as chips and it melts when cigarette ends have landed on it, i don’t know how many animals you have set fire to where their fur melts also i would just like to respond to the rude and ridiculous comment made by naturepunk:

….. “However, it is important to know the difference between real and fake fur to begin with, because you, as the consumer, also play a part in the continuation of the industry.Fuck you with this bullshit! I’m sorry you do not know me from Adam to make such remarks as to say I play a part in the consumption, fuck right off! I have been an active animal rights activist as long as I can remember, I have been the strictest of vegetarian and vegan my entire life, I am a member of multiple animal rights campaigns, continuously aware of all the disgusting things man kind does to animals, being scared of the torture in which humans create, do not try and insult me by saying I am part of this disgusting trade! I brought something because I wanted to, because it was fake, it does not bother me that it resembles a fox tail as I am fully aware it is not, now please, if you have something to say please address it to myself.

I didn’t make that comment, dude. Granted it’s really hard to see the tail in this image so without holding it in one’s hand it’d be really hard to tell, as it’s taken from far away, has colors over top of it and you can only really see half of it.

Naturepunk made that comment. And she had a good point. Lots of people do buy “fake” fur that actually turns out to be real, and it’s actually really sad, and dishonest of any company that does so.

I do apologise for that, it looked as if you were the last thread to the post and made the comment, apologies again, I completely agree with what has been said about companies misleading customers into thinking they’re buying fake, however I still stand by saying she was damn rude just assuming I didn’t know, and that I was part of the consumption. I made it clear at the beginning of this post the tail was fake, my word should be enough!

The only thing is, “your word” over the internet typically doesn’t mean a whole lot. I could give you my word that, say, my butterfly collection was all 100% legally obtained and captured humanely, but it’s a rare person that knows for sure. Most people don’t know where their stuff comes from or the difference between a real one and a fake one, therefore their “word” could be a lie and they wouldn’t even know it. If it looks more real than fake at first glance, it’s probably going to be taken as the real deal even if it’s just a very good faux.

Ok, yeah thats fair enough. However when posting on my blog, i’m hardly going to leave clear descriptions of where, when and how products I purchase are made, every time just to clear up some nonsense or to prevent it happening , I’m aware of where my stuff comes from, whether its fake, real or plastic, as long as I know, that is all thats important
